Heute fand die Pressekonferenz zum Albert Schweitzer Turnier im BEST WESTERN PREMIER Steubenhof Hotel statt. Der australische Headcoach Adam Caporn (2. v. li.) sowie Bundestrainer Harald Stein (2. v. re.) und Nationalspieler Richard Freudenberg (re.) waren, assistiert von Turnierdirektor Uwe Albersmeyer (li.), gekommen, um kurz vor dem Turnierbeginn die letzten Infos zu geben.

„Es wird für alle Teams am Anfang schwierig, denn sie kommen mitten aus der Saison. In unserer ersten Trainingswoche ging es um die richtige Mischung aus Belastung und Erholung. Leider fehlt uns mit Isaiah Hartenstein ein ganz wichtiger Spieler, der wegen Verletzung nicht dabei sein kann. Heute hat Isaac Bonga im Training eine Pferdekuss bekommen, da müssen wir abwarten, ob es im bis zum ersten Spiel reicht. Wir freuen uns sehr auf das Turnier und werden bereit sein. Nach zwei Spielen werden wir wissen, wo wir stehen“, meinte Harald Stein.

„Es ist für unsere Mannschaft das erste große Turnier vor eigenem Publikum, darauf freuen wir uns ganz besonders. Wir haben gut trainiert und hoffen, dass wir alle fit ins Turnier starten können. Die Stimmung im Team ist super, es kann losgehen“, so Richard Freudenberg.

„Wir haben hier ein sehr junges, unerfahrenes Team am Start. Gewöhnen müssen wir uns an den europäischen Basketball mit den unterschiedlichen Regeln. Wir haben gut trainiert und sind sehr gespannt. Meine Spieler wissen um das Prestige des Albert Schweitzer Turnieres, sie haben im Hotel die Poster von Dirk Nowitzki, Toni Parker & Co. gesehen. Außerdem hat ja auch unser australischer NBA-Spieler Matthew Dellavedova von den Cleveland Cavaliers beim AST mitgespielt und 2010 sogar gewonnen“, blickt Adam Caporn, der selber 2008 im australischen AST-Team stand, voraus.

Today the press conference ahead of the Albert Schweitzer Tournament took place at the BEST WESTERN PREMIER Steubenhof Hotel. „It will be difficult for all the teams at the beginning, because they play in the middle of the season. In our first week of training it was all about the right mix of stress and recovery. Unfortunately we lack a very important player with Isaiah Hartenstein due to injury. Today Isaac Bonga was injured during practise and we have to wait and see if it will be enough for the first game. We are looking forward to the tournament and will be ready. After two games we will know where we stand,“ said Harald Stein.

„It is for our team the first major tournament on home soil, something we are especially pleased about. We have trained well and hope that we can all start fit into the tournament. The atmosphere in the team is great, we are ready to go!“ said Richard Freudenberg.

„We have a very young, inexperienced team. The most important thing at first is to deal with the European basketball with the different rules. We have trained well and are very excited. My players know the prestige of the Albert Schweitzer Tournament, they have seen the posters of Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker & Co. at the hotel. Besides, our Australian NBA player Matthew Dellavedova from the Cleveland Cavaliers has played at the AST and even won it in 2010, „looks Adam Caporn, who was himself a part of the Australian AST team in 2008, ahead.
