Europameister und Olympia-Medaillengewinner – die Erfolge der beiden Trainer, die bei der Coach Clinic im Rahmen des 29. Albert Schweitzer Turniers referieren, können sich sehen lassen. Ausgerichtet wird die Veranstaltung in Viernheim vom 5. – 7. April 2018 durch die Bundesakademie des Deutschen Basketball Bundes in Kooperation mit der FIBA Europe. Dazu wurden mit Sergio Scariolo (Head Coach der spanischen Herren-Nationalmannschaft) und Radovan Trifunović (Head Coach der slowenischen Herren-Nationalmannschaft) bereits zwei nahmhafte Referenten verpflichtet. Ein Dritter wird in Kürze folgen.

Los geht es mit der Coach Clinic am Donnerstag, 5. April 2018, ab 11 Uhr mit dem Check-In in Viernheim, ehe von 13 – 16:15 Uhr die ersten Unterrichtseinheiten folgen. Nach dem ersten theoretischen Input stehen dann die beiden AST-Begegnungen zwischen Japan und Israel sowie zwischen Deutschland und Argentinien auf dem Programm. Ein ähnlicher Theorie-Praxis-Mix ist auch für den Freitag geplant. Im Anschluss an die Vorträge von 9 – 16:15 Uhr schauen die Teilnehmenden gemeinsam die beiden Halbfinals. Zum Abschluss stehen am Samstag vier weitere Spiele des prestigeträchtigen U18-Events an, darunter das Spiel um Platz 3 sowie das Spiel um den Titel.

In der Anmeldegebühr in Höhe von 219 Euro sind die AST-Tickets für die drei Clinic-Tage bereits enthalten. Ebenfalls wird für kleine Snacks und Getränke gesorgt. Am Freitag ist ein Mittagessen inklusive. Die Unterrichtseinheiten finden in der Rudolf-Harbig-Halle in Viernheim statt. Die Coach Clinic gilt wie immer als Fortbildung zur Lizenzverlängerung der A- und B-Lizenzen. Dazu gibt es eine Kooperation mit dem Basketballverband Baden-Württemberg für C-Trainer. Die Referenten der Coach Clinic im Überblick:

Sergio Scariolo
Der 56-Jährige ist aktueller Cheftrainer der spanischen Basketball-Nationalmannschaft. Scariolo startete seine Karriere als Coach 1978 im Nachwuchsteam von Pejo Brescia. Sechs Jahre später trainierte er die erste Mannschaft im Seniorenbereich, als er das italienische Militärteam in die zweite italienische Liga führte und gleichzeitig die Militär-WM als italienischer Headcoach gewann. Mit 29 gewann er im ersten Jahr als Headcoach von Scavolini Pesaro gleich die italienische Meisterschaft.

Nach einigen erfolgreichen Jahren bei unterschiedlichen italienischen Clubs wechselte er 1997 nach Spanien, wo er mit Baskonia Vitoria, Real Madrid und Unicaja Malaga zwei spanische Meisterschaften und zwei Pokalsiege sowie den dritten Platz beim EuroLeague-Final4 2007 feiern konnte. Zwischen 2008 und 2011 coachte Scariolo den russischen Klub BC Khimki, ehe er zu EA7 Emporio Armani Mailand wechselte. Als Nationaltrainer Spaniens gewann er zwischen 2009 und 2012 zwei EM-Titel und die Silbermedaille bei den Olympischen Spielen in London.

Radovan Trifunović
Im vergangenen Herbst übernahm Radovan Trifunović ein schweres Erbe. Er wurde Nachfolger von Igor Kokoskov, der die slowenische Herren-Nationalmannschaft zuvor bei der EuroBasket 2017 zum Europameistertitel geführt hatte. Seine Trainerkarriere startete der 45-Jährige 2008 bei Helios Domzale, für das er selbst als Spieler fünf Jahre lang das Trikot trug. 2011 wechselte er dann zum Ligakonkurrenten Zlatorog Lasko. Im November desselben Jahres verließ er Lasko dann jedoch wieder. 2014 wurde Trifunović Cheftrainer der B-Nationalmannschaft und ein Jahr später Assistent-Coach der A-Nationalmannschaft Sloweniens. Mit dem Team nahm er 2015 an der EM teil und holte dann 2017 als Co-Trainer Gold bei der EuroBasket. Nun also tritt er in die Fußstapfen von Kokoskov.

International Coach Clinic at the AST 2018

European champion and Olympic medalist – the successes of both coaches, who will give a lecture at the Coach Clinic at the 29th Albert Schweitzer Tournament, are really impressive. The clinic in Viernheim (5th of April to 7th of April 2018) is organized by the Academy of the German Basketball Federation in cooperation with FIBA Europe. The speakers, Sergio Scariolo (head coach of the National Team of Spain) und Radovan Trifunović (Head Coach of the National Team of Slowenia), are well known. A third one will be announced soon.

The Coach Clinic will start on Thursday, 5th of April 2018, at 11 am with the check-in in Viernheim. After that there will be the first lesson. Then the participants get the chance to see the AST matches Japan vs. Israel and Germany vs. Argentina. On Friday there will be a mix of theory and praxis again. Following different lectures from 9 am till 16.15 the participants will watch both semifinals. At the close of the three days in Viernheim they will visit four more games on Saturday including the game for third place and the final.

The AST tickets are included in the registration fee (219 Euro). Snacks and drinks will be provided during the days in Viernheim as well as lunch on Friday. The teaching units will be held in Rudolf-Harbig-Gym in Viernheim. Participants can renew their coaching license (A and B). Furthermore there will be a cooperation for C-license owners with the basketball federation of Baden-Wurttemberg.

The speakers of the Coach Clinic:

Sergio Scariolo
Sergio Scariolo (56) currently is the head coach of the Spanish National Team. He has started his coaching career in 1978 with Pejo Brescia’s junior team. Six years later he got his first job as head coach at senior level, leading Italian Armed Forces‘ team in Italian second division while winning the Military World Championship as head coach of Italy. At the age of 29 he won the Italian Championship in his first year as the head coach of Scavolini Pesaro. After several successful seasons coaching Italian clubs, he moves to Spain in the 1997-98 season, where he coached Tau Baskonia Vitoria, Real Madrid and Unicaja Malaga, winning two Spanish Championships and a total of two Spanish Cups. He also reached several finals, including a third place in the Euroleague’s 2007 Final 4.

From 2008 to 2011 Scariolo coached BC Khimki until he got an offer from EA7 Emporio Armani Mailand. From 2009 to 2012 he coached the Spanish National Team, winning the 2009 Eurobasket in Poland, the 2011 Eurobasket in Lithuania and the Silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

Radovan Trifunović
After the sucessful EuroBasket 2017 Radovan Trifunović (45) has took over a difficult task. He was appointed as the successor to Igor Kokoskov, the former Slovenian national coach, who has led his country to the titel at the EuroBasket 2017. Trifunovic´ coaching career started 2008 at Helios Domzale, the team he had played for from 1996 til 2001. 2011 he went to Zlatorog Lasko. But after only a few months he left Lasko. 2014 Trifunović became head coach of the Slovenian B national team and only one year later the assistant coach of the national team. With this team he won the European Championship in 2017.
