China hat beim Albert Schweitzer Turnier 2018 den ersten Sieg eingefahren. Sie schlugen die Ägypter mit 88:81.

Es war das Spiel um Platz fünf in Gruppe B. China und Ägypten hatten alle ihre bisherigen Spiele beim AST 2018 verloren. China’s Xin Sun erzielte die ersten Punkte der Partie, ein Dreier von Karim Kamel brachte die erste Führung für die Ägypter (4:6). Der Spielstand war immer wieder ausgeglichen, die beiden Mannschaften waren auf Augenhöhe. China hatte zum Viertelende hin einen kleinen Vorteil, 21:17.

Kamel traf für drei, das Spiel war wieder eng (21:20). Omar Ahmed glich zum 27:27 aus, aber China startete einen 5:0-Lauf, 32:27. Omar Samir erzielte vier Punkte in Folge für Ägypten, Haonan Chen traf für Drei. Die Defense beider Mannschaften war nicht die beste in diesem Abschnitt der Partie. In den letzten Minuten vor der Pause hatte Ägypten einige gute Angriffe und konnte so in mit 44:46 in Führung gehen.

Ägypten vergrößerte die Führung (46:50), aber China glich erneut aus. Ägyptens Youssef Abdelwahab netzte einen Dreier ein. Die Ägypter machten im dritten Viertel das Spiel ihres Lebens. Adham Elsabbagh erzielte acht Punkte in diesen zehn Minuten, am Ende lautete der Spielstand 63:70. Es war die höchste Führung für Ägypten im gesamten Turnierverlauf.

Das Team aus Afrika verlor im letzten Abschnitt den Rhythmus. China verkürzte, traf wichtige Würfe und zog sehr viele Fouls. Ägypten kämpfte, aber der Druck in der chinesischen Defense war zu groß, so dass sie nicht die Würfe bekamen, die sie wollten. Das Spiel war bei 81:81 ausgeglichen, aber China beendete die Partie mit einem 7:0-Lauf, 88:81.

China got its first win at this year’s Albert Schweitzer Tournament. They beat Egypt 88:81.

It was the game for fifth place in group B. China and Egypt both were 0-4 heading to day 5 of 2018’s Albert Schweitzer Tournament. China’s Xin Sun scored the first points of the match, a three pointer by Karim Kamel brought the lead for Egypt (4:6). The game was tied at 6, 9, 11 and 13 – the teams were on the same level. China had a small advantage at the end of the first quarter, 21:17.

Kamel scored for three, the game was close again (21:20). Omar Ahmed tied the game at 27, but China started an 5:0 boost, 32:27. Omar Samir scored four points for Egypt, Haonan Chen made a three pointer for China. The defense of both teams was not that good in this quarter. In the last minutes before the break, Egypt had some good offenses, getting the 44:46 lead

Egypt enlarged the lead (46:50), but China tied the game again. Egypt’s Youssef Abdelwahab netted a three pointer. The Egyptian players made the game of their life in the third quarter. Adham Elsabbagh scored 8 points in this ten minutes, at the end the score was 63:70. It was the biggest lead for Egypt in the tournament so far.

The team from Africa lost the rhythm in the last quarter. China closed in, made some important baskets and drew a lot of fouls. Egypt fought, but the pressure in the defense was too big, so they could get their shots. The game was tied at 81:81, then China ran 7:0 and finished the game 88:81.
