The German U18 national team (Photo above Philipp Hadenfeldt), that was certain the winner of the preliminary group A before the final match against Australia, overcame the team from „down under“. 77:58 (18:16, 12:10, 22:13, 25:19) was the final result after an entertaining game. In the team of national team coach Harald Stein today Kostya Mushidi (14), Oscar Leon da Silva (10) and Nelson Weidemann (10) stood out, for Australia nobody had double figures. Germany will meet France in tomorrow´s semi final (20.00 at GBG Halle).Germany again was without Lars Lagerpusch, who can possibly play in the semis. Filip Stanic took his place in the starting lineup. As expected, the Australians proved as a tough opponent, but the better start was on the German side (6:2, 2.). Again Kostja Mushidi was very effective directly from the (3 and lay-up, 11:6, 4.). Even the gym with about 1,000 spectators was a bit „tired“. The DBB team controlled the game, but then had to „swallow“ two threes and felt behind 13:14. Nelson Weidemann then sank a triple (18:14), after ten minutes the score was 18:16.Despite the good performance of the ING-DiBa players (24:18, 14)it was still rather quiet on the stands. Germany allowed the opponents too many offensive rebounds. Then again some great plays happened (28:22, Mushidi, 17). Hundt increased to 30:22, before Germany had to „swallow“ two dunks and acted a bit hectical. With the score of 30:26 both teams went into the locker rooms.

Germany played well at the beginning of the third quarter. Oscar Leon da Silva and Stanic scored to make it 35:26 (22.). Both now had many good scenes, Germany remained in front with double figures (45:32, 26.). Weidemann netted another three and the fifth win was not far away anymore (52:37, 29.). At the beginning of the last quarter Mushidi scored twice, at the score of 61:39 Louis Olinde was responsible for the preliminary decision (33.). Germany´s win was invulnerable.
